So, What's the Blog For?

Eve is a really complicated game. Dangerously complicated in fact, and its somewhat lacking in one important element. An instruction manual.

Oddly enough, this isn't actually that bad - all in all, its relatively logical, but there are so many buttons with ambiguous actions, and things with no explanation how they work that a lot of it is trial and error.

Eve University can teach the majority of this though, and we cover pretty much everything excluding corp management, which would be difficult to impossible to do without making everyone a director or having them form their own corp, and even then that wouldn't cover a lot of things.

So, for quite some time, I've been considering teaching a long and detailed corp management and mechanics lesson in the Uni, but as this is something that can be useful for all of Eve, not just the new players, I decided to open it up a little more, and make it a public resource.

So, that's what the blog is for, and over the next few weeks and months, with any luck it will evolve to become a decent resource for those of you wanting to start your own corp or alliance.

An Introduction

Ok, well, for those of you who don't know me, I'm Kelduum Revaan, Director of Diplomacy for Eve University, one of the largest corporation in Eve Online, an MMO. If you don't play Eve, the majority of this wont mean anything to you.

Eve University has been around for over 4 and a half years now, and all that time its been training new players in various aspects of the game, funded by the Eve Community.

For the last 2 years or so, I've had the post of Director of Diplomacy, which basically involves handling various situations with third parties and corp members, sorting things out and setting standings which use use to determine the stance of these other corps and alliances in the game, and from that, what category they fit into within our Rules of Engagement.

Eve University is the founder and executor of the alliance Ivy League, which we use for various purposes. At the time of writing, the alliance has around 1,500 members in various roles, from freshmen to students, mentors, instructors, managers of various kinds and directors, as well as our CEO who had the whole idea all the time ago.
